Let Imagination Take Flight.

"Who's that?" She asked cheekily after stealing a glance at his phone.
He didn't say anything and just smiled.
" Your girlfriend?" she persisted, even though she already knew the answer.
"Yea"
"She's pretty." she said with a smile.
"Yea.. She is." he bowed his head and smiled sweetly at the picture on his phone.
Though the answer was expected, the expression was not.
His coyness caught her off-guard...
She had never seen him so.. so.. blissful before.
His joy and happiness was all too obvious though he was subtle about it.
She grinned widely as he looked at her face for her blessing.
She showed her approval and happiness for his joy, but on the inside, she was breaking apart.
It was not that she's not happy that he's happy...
but she was unfamiliar... unfamiliar with him.
She was so used to being at the side and comforting him after everytime he failed...
but he doesn't need her anymore. He succeeded this time... and that position is no longer needed.
It's like a wall that suddenly cut thier emotional bridge. an invisible wall...
She was dependent on him... but he never knew...
to him, she's like one of the boys, like brothers...
but to her, he was her emotional stronghold. He held her together whenever her life breaks into pieces... He was always there for her... and so was she for him.
In an odd sort of sense, she needed to be needed by him.
But he's no longer hers... He's someone else's now.
No more can she call him up in the middle of the night and rant.
No more can she spill her guts out and go to him whenever she needs to.
No more...
Because It would be wrong...
And so the wall went up...
And he didn't even notice.
Didn't notice the subtle distancing of her hand from his...
Didn't notice the abyss of sadness behind her eyes
Didn't notice anything as she gave him the final embrace.
She turned and walked away....

Alone once again.
